Meet Guide Nate Rogers

Get to Know Your Kenai River Fishing Guide

Captain Nate Rogers, owner and operator of Nate Of The North Outdoors, developed a lifelong bond with the water starting at just four years old, fly fishing for trout alongside his father on Colorado’s Arkansas River. That early spark grew into a world-spanning journey across the United States, Mexico, and South America, including teenage years spent living in Peru and casting lines throughout the Andes and the Amazon. Fluent in Spanish and rich with international angling experiences, Captain Nate brings a well-rounded, global perspective to the water. Yet, despite all his travels, it was the stunning beauty and world-class waters of Alaska’s Kenai River that ultimately stole his heart.

As a full-time Kenai River guide, Captain Nate brings extensive hands-on experience navigating the region's top waterways, including both the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers, alongside previous seasons spent guiding at premier fly-out lodges across the Susitna Drainage, Wolverine Creek, and the Wood-Tikchik region. Fully certified and relentless about safety, Nate prioritizes guest comfort above all else, creating a welcoming, calm atmosphere that benefits beginners and seasoned anglers alike. His in-depth understanding of local fish runs—whether targeting sockeye salmon, Pacific halibut, or trophy rainbow trout—ensures every guest receives a tailored, educational experience on the water.

What truly distinguishes Captain Nate is his genuine dedication to mentorship and his fine-tuned attention to detail. Drawing from both traditional Alaskan methods and techniques refined abroad, he has even custom-developed his own fly and jig patterns to give guests a distinct advantage. When he is not guiding, Nate actively supports local conservation efforts and shares his love for the outdoors with the next generation of anglers. Rather than just taking you to a fishing spot, his focus is on helping you understand local fish behavior, river habitat, and the principles of responsible angling in Alaska’s famous glacier-fed rivers.
